Freezer-Friendly Homemade Pizza Dough

I finally gave homemade pizza dough another try. The first time I tried homemade dough, years ago, it stuck to my pizza peel and almost fell into a pile in the bottom of my oven. This time worked out much better (thanks to the use of ample amounts of flour!). What makes this dough even better – it’s freezer friendly!!!

Freezer-Friendly Homemade Pizza Dough

Overall the pizza turned out well. Next time I’ll try to make it a little thinner but that’s just my preference. My total cost for this meal was between $2-3, cheaper than most pizza delivery!

Crafting the Perfect Homemade Pizza Dough with Just a Few Ingredients

Pizza nights are the best nights, and what makes them even more special? Homemade pizza dough! Forget about complicated recipes with a ton of ingredients – we’re diving into the world of simplicity. With just a handful of kitchen staples, you can whip up a delicious pizza crust that rivals your favorite pizzeria. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get baking!

Getting Started: What You’ll Need

Forget about fancy flours and obscure ingredients; all you need are the basics:

  1. All-Purpose Flour: The backbone of your dough. Opt for a high-quality, all-purpose flour for the best results.
  2. Yeast: This little magic worker will make your dough rise to perfection. Active dry yeast or instant yeast – both work like a charm.
  3. Olive Oil: Adds a touch of richness and flavor to your dough. A good olive oil can make a significant difference.
  4. Warm Water: Activate that yeast with some warm water. Not too hot, not too cold – just Goldilocks style.
  5. Salt: Enhances the flavor of your dough. Simple as that.

The Step-by-Step Magic

  1. All-Purpose Flour: 3 cups
  2. Yeast: 1 packet (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  3. Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
  4. Warm Water: 1 cup (approximately, adjust as needed)
  5. Salt: 1 teaspoon
  6. Sugar: 1 tablespoon (for activating the yeast)

  • Activate the Yeast: Dissolve a tablespoon of sugar in warm water and sprinkle in the yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it gets all frothy. That’s your yeast waking up and ready to party.
  • Mixing the Good Stuff: In a bowl, mix your flour and salt. Make a little well in the center and pour in your activated yeast and olive oil. Mix until it forms a shaggy dough.
  • Knead, Baby, Knead: Flour your surface, plop the dough down, and knead away for about 5-7 minutes. It’s therapeutic, trust me.
  • First Rise: Tuck your dough into a bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for an hour or until it doubles in size. Time for a quick nap.
  • Punch It Down: Once your dough has risen, give it a good punch. Yes, you read that right. It releases air bubbles, making for a lighter crust.
  • Roll it Out: Flour your surface again, roll out your dough, and place it on your pizza pan.
  • Pre-Bake (Optional): For a crispier crust, pre-bake it for about 5 minutes before adding your toppings.
  • Top and Bake: Load up your pizza with your favorite toppings – tomato sauce, cheese, pepperoni, veggies, the works. Pop it in the oven until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

In Conclusion

There you have it – a ridiculously simple homemade pizza dough that’s bound to make your pizza nights legendary. Feel free to experiment with toppings and make it your own. Who needs delivery when you can whip up a pizza masterpiece in your own kitchen? Happy baking!
